Love the way it cooks evenly but, the handle broke where the plastic meets the metal. Thought I could get a replacement part, but they could not do it because of the cording inside. Really love the brand (have a toaster oven) but they need to fix this flaw using plastic at a crucial area. Had to use a super strong glue to try to fix…doesn't look so good.

I just got this waffle maker and I cannot for the life of me get it to finish cooking my waffles. I am using the same batter recipe I used in my old maker, which came out perfect and crispy every time before that iron broke. I purchased this waffle maker because I usually love breville products- I have the smart toaster and espresso machine and they are fantastic. Even on the maximum darkness setting on this waffle maker, I cannot get waffles to cook fully. I have had waffles sit in the maker through 4 full cycles on the dark setting and still come out floppy and undercooked. I sit here writing this review after my third attempt to make waffles in this machine and having let one batch sit through four full dark cook cycles only to come out soggy and underdone. I have no idea if I have a defective product or some other issue, but my experience is very far from what I see in other reviews. The second star is because the product seems great from a design standpoint. It just won't cook my waffles.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

Replaced my 4-1/2 year old Krups with the Breville and could not be happier. While it costs more than other waffle makers, it cooks perfectly, no spray is needed and it has spill-proof channels to avoid making a mess. Clean-up simplicity is icing on the cake. Also have a 3-year old Breville espresso machine and use it every day....zero problems and super quality coffee/espresso.

Bought this to replace a different brand. Didn't realize what we were missing out on with Breville. Easy to use, large waffles, love the sounds that help out a busy mom, easy to clean, and easier to store

After reviewing multiple waffle makers, I decided on the Breville 4slice Belgian largely based on other reviews. My experience was not the same. Regardless of setting, we could never get the waffles to get a golden brown or crispy outside. The inside was under cooked compared to our old waffle iron that had broken.

Fantastic!! Using it every second day while I'm perfecting my waffle recipe. Got the 4-waffle size, but not the one with the fancy electronic controls, Don't miss the electronics - but don't know for certain if I would have. ....Yes, it was WAY too expensive, but it is worth it. No point at all buying a waffle maker that makes lousy waffles. I fought with a cheap one for years - disappointment with every batch!!! It was so sad. It would have been kinder to have nothing than to be tortured like this for years. But I am so happy since the purchase of this Breville - I have had WONDERFUL WAFFLES EVERY TIME!!

After reading many reviews I decided on the Breville Smart Waffle and it was a great choice! I am at the point in life where I can splurge on single use appliances 'cuz you can't make waffles without a waffle maker! -- The cooking function works perfectly. Waffles are perfect every time. I use the dark setting and each batch takes about 7 minutes. -- Clean up is a breeze because there is nothing to do! The waffles come out cleanly leaving nothing behind. -- The spill-over moat is genius. I would not buy one without this feature now that I've used it. -- Manual says to use about 1/2 cup batter per section and that is the perfect amount. No spill-over. -- Maker stays hot so the second batch of waffles can go in as soon as the first batch is out. No waiting for the maker to heat back up. -- One thing to keep in mind: When the lid is open, it needs about 19.5" of clearance. Most cabinets are 18" or less from the countertop. Be sure you have a place with enough height AND an accessible electrical outlet. -- And may I recommend the most amazing waffle recipe ever: Stella Parks Buttermilk Vanilla Waffles (search for it on Serious Eats dot com). Quick and amazing. Family said "better than we've had in any restaurant". (I didn't use vanilla beans, just the extract. Beans will be reserved for special occasions.) It makes 6 waffles on this maker.
