      Great, but not so great without the subscribtion

      I am quite happy with the detection and sensor on these smartsensors. They work efficiently and send push notifications, however that feature is only available when subscribed to ecobee haven monthly plan. For the price of the unit, it would have been great if this feature was just included without ...

      I picked this product because I wanted a way to turn off my AC/heat if the door to my patio was open. I assumed that this sort of feature would be built in out-of-the-box, since the advertisement does say it ties in with the thermostat, but even if it wasn't, based on ecobee's previous track record...

      Subscription required to put your A/C in hold. But wait here's the fun part… your system will still turn on in hold the whole time. So much for savings. My unit was still kicking on, on a day that was nice and I trusted the sensors putting my unit in hold. Thinking it means not to turn on. Thankfully it wasn't much but these sensors are a complete waste. Hold apparently still means your system runs I guess. Make the sensor turn the unit OFF not in hold if it's still going to run! Here is it "saving me money" while my door sensors said open. It waited until I fell asleep to run too! I work nights and will leave my windows and door open on nicer days. I typically turn off the system myself. Apparently I will still have to do that. After this disaster of a first test.

      After buying these sensors, I discovered that the only way to use them as advertised is to pay for a subscription. Incredibly misleading advertising that has soured my opinion of Ecobee.

      These Work fine, until you want to use them with your EcoBee thermostat to automatically shutoff heating/cooling if doors are open, some how this is tied to their "security" subscriptions even though this should all be happening locally in your home without any dependency on the Ecobee cloud services. Just another company basing their entire business model on subscriptions.

      I changed from the Nest thermostat that I had for years because I was starting having issues with the thermostat from the WiFi ,to the schedule and Google moving everything to the Google Home app so I gave The Ecobee a try and I am glad I did it has working perfectly during the cold weather that we had. I was able to install it easily in 20 minutes even before the house got cold.

      These door and window sensors are a waste of money currently. You can't change the alert sound made when a door is opened even with the ecobee Alexa. I would not recommend until an update is out.

      Thus far we are very happy with our ecobee products. Installation was challenging but once I contacted support it was a breeze. The thermostat has great features and the door sensors work just fine. Once we have used our A/C unit next year, we will have a better idea of how good these products function.

      Great addition to your Ecobee environment. Easy to install and they alert quickly when a door or window is opened. Great features packed product. Can be easily added to your Apple HomeKit setup. Just remember as the instructions state to make sure you know exactly where you are placing them and how they will work when opening or closing a window or door before you pull the cover off the two sided mounting tape and mount them.

      Ecobee claims that this sensor detects motion and temperature in addition to door open/close. That is false, or mine is broken. There is zero motion detection and I have tested multiple times. Only detects door open/close. And I don't see any sort of indication about the temperature at the sensor.

      Great products and easy to install but the aftermarket costs for items that are included with other competitors is making your sensor and cameras cost prohibitive. Awareness alarms and pic and video retrieval should not be part of your monthly/years maintenance fees.
