      Good dehumidifier.

Easy to set up in my basement. The unit rapidly dehumidified a large basement pumping extracted water into a sink. The photos and verbiage in the instruction booklet could be better at explaining the pump and discharge setup. All and all a good unit.

On paper, it looks great: - Compact (especially in bucket-less mode); - It draws in air over a large surface; - It packs nicely for the off-season. In real life: - It has a "back saver" feature: one can choose how much water gets collected in the bucket before the unit stops (24, 30, 36.5 or 40.5 lb). BUT to empty the bucket, one has to first lift and set aside the 37 lb "cube"… If you are comfortable moving around 37 lb, but have trouble lifting 40.5 lb, this may "save your back"; otherwise it's useless. - It includes a "pump" that should automatically empty the bucket. A perfect example of paper clips and duct tape after-thought design that didn't work. Configured it by the book, left the unit running until the bucket filled up to the highest level, the pump never engaged. - While I was emptying the bucket manually, more water came out from the "cube", leaving a puddle on the floor. - The "timer" is only a delayed-start/stop option that must be set manually every single time. - It worked well in bucket-less mode, BUT after only 4 weeks rust started coming out through the draining hose. Midea Support said "rust is not covered by warranty". - 2 months after the (1 year) warranty expired, the unit started icing up badly and became unusable. Since Midea declined any responsibility, I took it apart and found that some of the internal parts are badly rusted and refrigerant leaked out too. In short, the dehumidifier is now junk. Considering all of the above, I would not recommend it to anyone.

Only a month in, but the unit runs constantly and is taking out 5 gallons of humidity a day. I have this running in our upstairs family room and now 77 degrees feels comfortable. We are using less A/C now.

My first bad review posted on June 9 2023 is no longer visible, which was followed up by multiple daily phone calls from Midea Cust Serv while I was away on vacation, only to find your final message saying the case had been closed. BULL!!! I called back, spoke with a rep, was assured that my 18 month old MAD50PS1QGR unit would be replaced, followed by more calls with no number provided for contact. The entire process died. Since I did like the design, I rolled the dice and purchased a new MAD50S1QWT unit on June 5 2023. Tried to register this new unit, but the website says my attempt failed because of a duplicate registration. And today, May 17 2024, this 11 month unit has FAILED!!! It's a solid block of ice, with ice bulging from 3 sides. Basement temp is 70F. Set on 50%. It runs and runs and runs. I thawed it yesterday, overnite. Started back up this morning, within 2 hrs froze again. I quick thawed by blow dryer, started again, after 1 HOUR, froze solid again!!!! The filter is completely clear, coils look clear. You've lost this customer for good.

When I first setup the cube dehumidifier, I was excited about how easy it was to setup and use. Unfortunately, after only 15 months in continuous mode, it stopped working. There was no icing and I kept up on filter cleaning. The compressor stopped working and there appears to be rust on the coils.

I bought 2 of these units, and during the first 3 seasons (Fall, Spring, and then Fall again), they work as advertised. But, this spring when I attempted to use them again, they no longer work. Having read the reviews on here, others are having similar issues. For the price of these units, they should have definitely last much longer. Customer service is of no help and denied my warranty claim. I'd stay away from these.

It worked good for a bit over a year. But then it started icing up and not dehumidifying anymore. We kept the filters clean and it was in a conditioned space. Since it was past its warranty, I took the cover off to look inside and all the coil tubing attachements were all rusted. Not sure if any refrigerant gas leaked inside our house due to cheap choice of materials for this unit.

Flimsy bucket, can't empty completely, difficult drain use

It is wonderful that this dehumidifier is compactable, but the small plastic parts holding the very heavy dehumidifier over the bucket are very flimsy, I feel like it'll break if I'm not extremely careful and slow when placing the dehumidifier on top of it. It is also a challenge to stow the dehumidifier back in the bucket. In order to empty this thing, you have to lift off the heavy dehumidifier, it's a heavy, two-hand lift. When you lift it off, water goes everywhere from flowing out of the dehumidifier. Then you have the next challenge of lifting the heavy, bulky bucket full of water and dumping it into a sink, toilet or drain. The bucket has multiple horizontal ribs, so you'll never get all the water out and will have to towel dry it in order to prevent mold. It is almost impossible to switch from bucket mode to hose drain mode. in order to do it, you have to unplug the unit, which is a problem since the outlet is behind my storage shelves in a difficult location, then you have to plug it back in, but make sure it's not sitting on the bucket, otherwise it won't work. Then you have to push and hold 2 buttons within a given amount of time and hope that the thing changes modes, it usually takes multiple tries. Then, once you have it in hose drain mode, then you can put it back onto the bucket. If you take it off the bucket though, even for a second, then you have to go through the whole procedure again. Why not just have it always drain out the hose opening and let it pour into the bucket if no hose is attached? Why not have a dedicated button to switch drain modes? This is not user friendly. The app is not great, there is no indicator of which drain mode you are in. If you accidentally click max or continuous, there is no way to unselect it without power-cycling the device. The device is quite loud, I have to keep it in a separate room behind a closed door or it is too loud to think straight. That's not a very good solution when you're trying to dehumidify.
