Product Description

The radar experts at Escort had something special with their 9500ix detector, which helped usher in the use of GPS technology to combat false alerts. Built upon that legendary device's legacy, Escort's iX radar detector features trademark long-range protection and GPS assistance, plus built-in Bluetooth® compatibiilty for smartphone integration. It also adds advanced technology to further suppress false alerts from new sources on the road, and it learns over time to stop other false alerts too. You can count on peace of mind as you drive with the Escort iX leading the way.

See everything you need

The Escort iX's multi-color OLED display gives you a quick, easy-to-follow view of pertinent information about incoming threats. You can choose the backlight color to complement your vehicle's interior lighting, and the recognizable icons and graphics really stand out on the detector's screen. You'll also get voice alerts in English or Spanish so you can make timely decisions while keeping your eyes on the road.

AutoLearn technology

The iX's AutoLearn feature combines GPS location information with the unique frequency footprint of signals it picks up, so it can recognize where you're likely to get a false alert along your drive. You'll hear fewer false alerts, even if you don't mark those locations as false alerts yourself. After as few as three hits on the same location of a false alert, you won't be bothered again.

In-Vehicle Technology (IVT) filtering

Factory collision avoidance systems help make cars even more safe by keeping drivers aware of potential accidents, but they wreak havoc on radar detectors because they employ similar frequencies as conventional radar guns. The Escort iX's updatable IVT system recognizes collision avoidance and adaptive cruise control signals and separates them from the real threats, for fewer annoying false alerts.

Long-distance protection

Escort's ramped up the iX's ability to sniff out signals far ahead of your car, so you're sure to get alerts with plenty of advance warning. Whether you're worried about X-band, K-band, Superwide Ka-band, or POP radar guns, Escort has you covered. That goes for laser enforcement as well, including off-axis signals that would get by lesser detectors. Escort's digital signal processor turns those signal detections into actual alerts lightning fast.

Included camera locations

The iX comes with a preloaded database of safety, red-light, and radar camera locations across North America, allowing the detector to warn you when you get near. You can download updates, back up your data, and maintain the database through Escort's website. You'll need a subscription and a Windows®-based computer to update the iX's database — update subscriptions are available through Escort's website.

Store critical locations

Just tap a button on the keyboard to store locations along the road where the speed limit drops quickly, or where you might encounter heavy enforcement. The iX will warn you when you approach them in the future. Or press the mute button at the location of a known false signal — the detector will remember the signal, muting the alert the next time you pass by. You'll hear an alert if another type of signal comes from the same location.

The Escort Live app broadens your horizons

The Escort Live app is a simple way to get your iPhone® or Android™ smartphone involved in keeping you informed. The app combines your GPS location information with real-time reports from other Escort Live users to keep you abreast of potential threats in your vicinity. You can also use the app to report your own sightings of enforcement or other potential travel hazards, which will then be instantly available to other Escort Live users. The app also alerts you to major changes in the posted speed limit, so you can stay on top of the situation.

With the iX's built-in Bluetooth connectivity, you can simply pair the detector with your phone for instant wireless communication between the detector and the app — no additional hardware or cords needed. The Escort Live app is free to download, but a subscription fee is required to use many aspects of the Escort Live service — Escort includes a 1-year trial of the Escort Live Premium service with purchase of the iX detector.

Drive at your comfort level

The iX's programmable features let you set it up to detect and alert you how you want. You can choose the bands to monitor, which meter you want to see, and more. Variable speed sensitivity allows the detector to run at maximum sensitivity at highway speeds, then to move automatically to city mode when you slow down, eliminating false alarms caused by outside interference. It can even give you an alert when you're going over a pre-determined speed limit. You'll have three sensitivity levels to choose from, and five different brightness settings, including fully dark.

A handsomely outfitted detector

Your iX comes fully complemented with a travel case, 12-volt SmartCord, and Escort's new EZ Mag Mount. The mount securely fastens to your windshield and provides quick, one-touch attachment for your detector, with minimal bouncing as you drive. The SmartCord lets you see alerts when the detector's in fully dark mode, or mute the detector without touching it. And when it's time to update the database of cameras and enforcement areas, the iX's mini-USB input makes it easy for data transfer from your computer.

Another Winner

I ordered this IX to replace my 9500 IX. I noticed right away the K bands were not alerting as much. This started me worrying if the IX was working. Then the Ka band went off coming to work, 3.25 miles later I passed the stationary trooper. Range fantastic, so I guess the filters for K band on d...

ALL THAT TECHNOLOGY LITTLE IN RETURN

I purchased and IX less than 3 weeks ago, and I have already turned it back in. When I read the reviews and watched some of the videos neither one gave me a good indication this would be a good radar detector or not. Too many false returns

I am on the road...a lot! After being a loyal escort fan & user for many, many years, I have to say this is the worst radar detector I've ever gotten from Escort. I gave up my 9500i for the new IX because I was getting so many false hits with all the anti-collision systems in cars today. The IVT filter was advertised as being a fix for that problem. Not only do the false negatives from the cars continue, it continues picking up the false negatives from fixed spots even after I've stored it via GPS. I'm extremely disappointed and really am not sure whether I'll keep the IX or try to find someone else that truly blocks out the anti-collision false returns!

Disappointed...knocked one star off because of price

I've been a loyal Escort customer for over 20 years. The 3 previous Escort Detectors I owned (Passport 4600, 8500, and 9500ix) I LOVED. The iX...I don't hate it but I don't love it, either. If I could describe the detector with one word, it would be inconsistent. After owning my 9500ix for a few years, I started noticing increased false alerts, when historically, the detector was absolutely silent on routes that I frequently drove. After researching, I found it was because of newer vehicle based Blind Spot Monitoring/Collision Avoidance Systems...what Escort calls IVT. The iX was marketed as having IVT filtering, so that's what turned me on to it. First the pros. I LOVE the magnetic mount! Rock solid. If you follow the instructions on how to place the detector in the mount, you won't have any trouble. Makes for very easy mounting and unmounting. I like the OLED display, love the color options. I just wish there were more options for customizing what we can put on the display. For example, I don't use the overspeed display. Would be nice if I could replace that with something else, i.e. vehicle voltage instead of "OSP --". The performance seems to be about on par with my old 9500ix. The cons: The BSM filtering is terrible. Oftentimes, when a vehicle's system punches through, the iX gives me a full tilt alert, as though I've been hit with instant on radar. It's very annoying and dangerous as one starts to ignore the full tilt alerts. Escort claims the IVT filtering is updateable, yet after a year and a half on the market, no IVT filtering updates have been released for the iX, whereas there have been some for the Max series. There are some days when I drive with my iX and it's a rather pleasant experience, and other days when it just annoys the heck out of me. Again, it's an inconsistent performer. If I could do it all over again, I would have hung on to my 9500ix. I expected more from this detector, especially for the price.

I bought this unit to replace my 9500I. I was happy with my 9500I although it never got the upgrades promised when I bought it. They made it so you had to buy the IX a year later instead. Over all I was very happy with it and Bought the IX as a replacement and moved it to one of my other car. The New IX is great and very easy to use. The true warnings are very good! It is quiet as a mouse going through town unless a police officer is doing work. This is my fifth Escort in the past 20 years and I will probably buy another one soon to upgrade the wives car. Thank you for a great product!

I upgraded my previous Escort detector which actually was 6 years old and worked perfectly. I thought that technology has changed a lot so I decided to upgrade. So sad I wasted the money on this one. It gives nothing but false alarms with X and K bands even when there's nothing else around. My State only uses KA band so the other two only pick up other cars and stores. I hate that it blasts full K band alarm for no reason which totally startles you. The only reason I keep using it is because of the speed indicator letting me know how fast I'm driving. This is a lot of money and not worth it at all!

I have owned one for a year. So satisfied I purchased one for my wife. She loves it! I don't understand all the negative reviews, since we both have been using them for a year now, and have had no problems, and Lots of saves! We did experience the "account expired" problem, on our iPhones(7 &7plus), but just deleted and re-entered. Works perfectly. NOTE: It does not save one from ones self. When used with common sense and good judgement, this is an Excellent product.

Google Uniden R3 vs Escort

I have been an Escort customer for years. I'm currently running the Passport 9500ix. While it has served well, all the information available today would point a shopper to the Uniden R3. Do yourself a favor and complete some quick research. You will quickly come to realize Escort is no longer the top dog (if you choose to ignore the outdated Valentine One as I have).

I purchased the Escort radar specifically for a cross country Drive. Second state into the drive we got tagged a Pennsylvania police officer and the radar detector didn't make a noise. By the good graces of the police officer we only got a citation as my insurance card wasn't current instead of a speeding ticket. We were able to see in advance pretty much every other police car the radar detector picked up on so it wasn't of much value. In Wyoming yet again and gave a generic Ka warning but no indication of laser activity. There were other cars ahead of us that she could have been clocking with the laser. We got pulled over going 20 miles above the speed limit. My previous radar detector was a bell Tronics and I could pick up laser bouncing off of other cars and immediately adjust my speed well before I was within range of a police officer's laser. I am thinking of returning it once I get to my destination because it is of no value or exchanging it for a BellTronics.
