Cyber-shot® Digital Still Camera

10.2 Megapixel Back-illuminated "Exmor R" CMOS Image Sensor

The DSC-TX7 features a 10.2 megapixel "Exmor R" CMOS image sensor that brings out the full resolving power of the camera's Carl Zeiss® Vario-Tessar® lens to deliver extremely fast speed, high resolution, and stunning low-light sensitivity with improved image clarity and drastically reduced grain. In addition, the combined "Exmor R" CMOS sensor and BIONZ image processor delivers extremely fast 10fps, Anti Motion Blur, Hand-held Twilight and 1080i movie modes9..

Carl Zeiss® ario-Tessar® Lens with 25mm equivalent wide 4x Optical Zoom

The high-performance Carl Zeiss® Vario-Tessar® 4x optical zoom lens brings distant subjects closer for video recording as well as for outdoor, sports, and travel photos, and Close Focus shoots close-ups up to just under 1/2 " from the subject. A wide angle of 25mm equivalent wide-angle lens allows you to take wider shots of the scene or group in crowded spaces.

3.5" Xtra Fine LCD touch screen display1 w/TruBlack technology

A large 3.5" Xtra Fine LCD touch screen display1 w/TruBlack technology (921K pixels), the largest of Sony's Cyber-shot DSC line makes it easy for viewing and sharing images with simple and fun touch screen operation. With its Ultra AR film coating, which reduces reflections and increases contrast and brightness, viewing images on the LCD even in bright light is possible.

Easy Touch Screen Interaction

The DSC-TX7 offers intuitive functions to the multi-purpose touch screen, such as the ability to select the focus point with a simple touch, scroll through images by sliding your finger across the screen and one-touch access to the MENU. The display also features improved readability with list view and index view.

Anti-Motion Blur Mode

Capture cleaner and sharper images in low light for non landscape shots. When set in Anti-motion Blur Mode, the DSC-TX7 captures six images in a fraction of a second with higher shouter speed and combines the data from all six to create a single image of extraordinary detail and eliminate subject blur, beyond the capability of traditional cameras.

Handheld Twilight

Capture cleaner and sharper night shots without using a tripod. When set to Handheld Twilight Mode, the DSC-TX7 captures six images in a fraction of a second with one press of the shutter, and combines the data from all six to create a single image of extraordinary detail and low noise. With these modes, you can capture images in low light, without flash, beyond the capability of traditional cameras.

Intelligent Sweep Panorama Mode

Capture expansive landscapes with Intelligent Sweep Panorama Mode. Press shutter and sweep and the camera does the rest, continuously, shooting images and in one second stitching them together. This model even detects faces and moving subjects to stitch intelligently different widths to avoid subject distortion.

Backlight Correction HDR

Shooting high-contrast scenes can often lead to washed out backgrounds and/or details lost in shadow. Backlight Correction HDR helps correct for this by taking two pictures at different exposure settings and processing the best elements of both into a single image for more natural looking shots.

High speed shooting

The DSC-TX7 can capture full 10.2 megapixel resolution images at up to 10 frames per second, helping to ensure that you capture the decisive moment such as the soccer ball flying into the goal. In addition, the DSC-TX7 employs a mechanical shutter that helps reduce distortion when continuously shooting moving subjects.

1080i AVCHD Movie Mode9

Record movies in 1080i AVCHD high definition at 60i9. The AVCHD format captures a high degree of detail and smooth movement, and when footage is burned to disc, can be played back on Blu-ray Disc players, Sony® PlayStation®3 systems and compatible PCs and HDTVs7 The convenience Movie start/stop icon makes it easy to access this mode via touch screen.

HDMI Output

The High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) is a compact audio/video connector interface for transmitting uncompressed digital streams. HDMI connects digital audio/video sources such as a compatible camcorder, Blu-ray Disc player, a personal computer, a video game console, or an AV receiver to a compatible digital audio device and/or video monitor such as a digital television (DTV).

DVDirect® DVD recorder Compatible

With AVCHD capabilities the TX7 is compatible with the DVDirect® DVD recorder, allowing automatic playback of high definition footage. Simply insert your Memory Stick® media into the DVDirect® DVD recorder and enjoy your movies shot in high definition. (Recorder and media sold separately).

720p MP4 HD Movie Mode3

In 720p MP4 movie mode the camera shoots 1280 x 720 high definition movies at 30 fps, which is the format when working with a PC. Users will create high quality movies with full use of optical zoom in their Cyber-shot®DSCs in files small enough to transfer to compatible PC or Mac®. Once transferred to your computer you can effortlessly upload your media to popular photo and video-sharing websites such as Photobucket® and YouTube. (Compatible computer with internet capability required).

Compatible with PC and Mac Systems

Video captured with the DSC-TX7 can be used with the provided Picture Motion Browser software for PC and iMovie® (sold separately) for Mac systems.2.

Self-Portrait Timer

Self-Portrait Timer helps take the guesswork out of self portraits by utilizing Face Detection technology to recognize when your face enters the frame. Once the camera detects your face, it triggers a 2-second timer, and then snaps a picture.

TransferJet technology

TransferJet technology, developed by Sony® and advanced and promoted by consortium of 18 other companies, allows you to transfer up to ten files between two TransferJet enabled devices just by touching them together, without the hassle of hunting for cables or the complication of pairing.11.

Stylish Ultra-slim Design

By incorporating advanced features such as Intelligent Scene Recognition, Face Detection technology, and Optical SteadyShot image stabilization, iAuto mode lets you take advantage of the latest Sony® Cyber-shot® technology without leaving auto mode. Whether you're shooting landscapes, capturing a beautiful flower, or taking pictures at an in-door birthday party or wedding shower, iAuto mode will optimize your camera's settings to help ensure you come away with a great shot.

Intelligent Scene Recognition (iSCN) Mode

Intelligent Scene Recognition (iSCN) Mode automatically detects nine different types of scenes and, within just 1/30th of a second, selects the appropriate camera settings: Backlight, Backlight Portrait, Twilight, Twilight Portrait, Twilight using a tripod, Portrait, Landscape, Macro, and Close Focus. iSCN has two modes: Auto and Advanced. In Auto Mode, the camera takes a single shot using the optimal settings. Excellent compact point and shoot camera

Its an excellent camera. I have it since last 2 days and I am deeply amazed by the work Sony has done on this Camera. Recommended for all camera buyers looking for a complete all in one featured camera with ease of use. Camera is really worth the price tagged on it. Pros - 1. Excellent form factor - Very good design. This looks very stylish. Also the feel of the camera is nice. Unlike previous versions of Sony T series, lens cover is very easy to slide down. Blue color looks awesome. Ultra compact and light weight. 2. Very good Macro shots - Takes some very nice close focus shots. Never seen such quality macro pics in any other point and shoot cameras. 3. Low light photos - Good quality low light photographs 4. iAuto mode - Automatically detects the lighting conditions and shoots nice photos with a single click. 5. Touch panel is improved - Touch panel is very much improved. Its easier to use, navigate through photos, select shooting modes. iPhone like feature of navigating through photos is nice to have. Resolution of LCD screen is also exceptional. 6. iSweep Panorama - Has multiple options for horizontal as well as vertical panorama shots. Intelligently detects the moving objects and creates a good panorama with just a sweep. 7. Self timer with portrait mode - Apart from usual 2 sec and 10 sec timers, there is a very intelligent feature in self timer mode, where in you just need to place the camera and go in front of camera and it will detect you and start the timer to shoot photo. No need to run or wait for the camera timer. 8. Full HD video - Full HD video recording mode with stereo mic. 9. HDMI support for direct playback on HDTV. 10. SD, SDHC memory card support. Cons - 1. Battery life (230 shots) is less compared to other available cameras in the same price range. 2. The glossy finish on the camera body and no added grip on it, makes camera vulnerable to damages, as there is always a risk that it may slip from your hands. So I am keeping extra caution by using the wrist strap provided. 3. Zoom button is a bit tricky to get use to. 4. Multi o/p port is not easier to deal with. Its difficult to pull out HDMI cable once inserted. Also the once which I got from the box, is kind of loose and when I try to pull HDMI cable out, its not that easy. Sony should have given at least a USB connection directly in camera. Recommendations for buyers - 1. Also buy the Sony accessory kit ACC-CTBN as well. This kit has an extra battery, which is a must when you are planning a full day visit to a theme park, or going for a camp etc. Also this kit has a camera case from Sony and a very nice 3 inch tripod. Both spare battery and tripod along with camera can easily fit in this camera case. 2. Use Cyberlink Power DVD 10 to play the AVCHD video recorded by camera on your PC. Media player is not a good option to play AVCHD. 4. Prefer Blue color as the finish is glossy and goes very nice with blue. Once again, this is a must have camera and anybody looking out for a point and shoot camera, must go for it. This has almost everything in it.

The picture quality is excellent compared to other cameras of similar size, but not rival a DSLR. significant noise reduction processing is the higher ISO sensitivity, but appears to be very well done and produces some of the best results I ve seen. Add to that the laptop twilight mode, and you are the winner. In this mode, the camera captures six separate exposures, and points together to reduce camera shake to choose the best information on all the frames. It seems to work properly. http://www.thesonyworld.com/sony-cyber-shot-dsc-tx7.html

Of course they don't tell you that the .mts format for the AVHD video is not compatible with mac and you need to spend $40 to buy another 3rd part program to convert your video just to be able to watch it on your computer. I don't understand why Sony can't just create a program that does that for you and have it come with the camera! Anyway it has a nice design at least but I'm disappointed with the image quality... it's decent I guess but nothing like what I expected.

This is my third Sony cyber shot and each one was better than the one before. I can't rave enough about this one. From it's sleek design to it's ease of use. The smile detection button is awesome, I've had a lot of fun with that one. The picture quality is sharp and crisp and the pictures taken at dusk or in low light are amazing. If you have been wondering whether or not you should get one, JUST DO IT. You will not regret it. The EASY mode makes it so simple if you want to just click and go. I handed my camera to a very young boy to take a picture and it was great. Also I have to rave about the panoromic scan feature, I took pics at an old Southern plantation and everyone who sees it just can't believe the quality. I could go on forever. Next time I come on I will add a picture. SMILE you never know who is taking your picture.

This camera is amazing and worth every penny. It is so light-wieght and easy to use. The color quality on the camera can't be matched, too bad it seems to have color fade when on the computer, but on the other hand when the pictures are printed it is as virbrant as on the camera. (I think it may just be the computer monitor.) Yes, the battery life may be short, but if you buy additional batteries you can charge them and bring them along with you, which is about the same as using traditional AA's. My favorite part would have to be the "auto-focus" though, because you can choose the subject of your picture, which is just spectacular. Although it has a "paint" mode, I can't seem to find a "sepia" or "B&W" setting which is kind of a disappointment. The paint mode is nice though, don't get me wrong, but it could be better if it could 'insert text' instead of strictly using your finger. Overall this camera is most definately the best I have ever owned and is so great, I am in absolute love with it.
