      They have thought of everything. This makes perfect toast and they have it timed down to the second depending on what you are toasting and how crispy you want your toast. You don't have to figure it out, they've already done that in their food lab, I guess. You just put how dark you want the toast, and how many slices and the toaster calculates the rest. I LOVE this toaster. Even the crumb tray is above and beyond other toasters and their crumb trays: Super easy to take in and out and easy to clean. :-)

      The scene in Santa Clarita Diet where Timothy Olyphant takes his toaster oven out and smashes it on the pavement only begins to express my frustration with toasters and toaster ovens for which the manufacturers invariably guarantee even toasting. In my 71 years of existence I have *never* had a product that provided even toasting (which speaks to the overall functioning of the product). Then came Breville (the Laird bless you and keep you Brevillites). From the get go, this oven toasted our bread delightfully evenly. The first one we had suffered a wee malfunction for which Breville provided a replacement. I was concerned that the first one may have been a fluke. That is was an "accident" that it provided such immaculate performance as promised by Breville. Nope. The replacement has performed in the same fashion. We continually marvel at how well it does its job. Such a sad state that we would be so thrilled about a product that simply does its job as promised. Our internal thanks and gratitude, Breville!

      The first oven I received had a defective alert notification sound. The replacement has the same problem. Seems to be a design flaw.

      I love how compact this oven is for my counter, it still fits a lot in it, including 4 slices of bread and works amazing. The way it toasts, broils, bakes. Great oven. I love Breville!

      It was a gift from my family when I complained that my old cheap toaster oven was failing. I use it almost exclusively for making toast from frozen bread, and it fails almost every time. Tried what the manual said, and set it at 2 slices, 7 darkness. I got: burned on top, raw and mushy on the bottom. So I figured the bottom was weak or too far, and set it to darkness 4, and turned the bread over, and set it at darkness 3. I got: raw and mushy on top, and really burned on the bottom. It's like it suddenly decided that the BOTTOM needed more baking, and the top was OK. WHAT? On the rare occasions I want to "cook" something, (like reheating pastries or egg rolls) it does well - as long as I turn them part way through. It seems like anything over 10 minutes evens the heating out. But the "smart baking" chip can't handle toast, and moves the heat to where it is not needed. Plus, I came to this site to find a copy of the manual. Haven't found it yet....

      I bought my first Breville - a toaster oven - some years ago, and after long service it needed repair. I did not have the warranty but Breville replaced it at no charge anyway, and I had that one for a long time as well. When it too finally developed a problem, once more Breville promised repair or replacement, this time for a reasonable fee. The replacement is doing the same fine job the other two did over several years. Thank you, folks at Breville, you are a good company to deal with, because you stand behind your product.
