    • Installation is quick and easy. Simply, attach a SmartSensor to a door, window, entryway, or other areas that contain valuable items drawers, safes, and medicine cabinets.

    • SmartSensors gives you peace of mind that’s powered by an easily replaceable battery designed to last up to 3 years.

    • With an ecobee Smart Security subscription, the SmartSensor for doors and windows detects if either has been open for more than 5 minutes, automatically pausing your HVAC system. Once the door or window has been closed for more than 30 seconds, the HVAC system resumes operation.       I am quite happy with the detection and sensor on these smartsensors. They work efficiently and send push notifications, however that feature is only available when subscribed to ecobee haven monthly plan. For the price of the unit, it would have been great if this feature was just included without ...

      I picked this product because I wanted a way to turn off my AC/heat if the door to my patio was open. I assumed that this sort of feature would be built in out-of-the-box, since the advertisement does say it ties in with the thermostat, but even if it wasn't, based on ecobee's previous track record...

      They work very well. For me it took a while to get used to keeping the doors closed all the time. After we got our A/C replaced keeping the doors closed was a necessity. We're building towards a decent security system. Learning all the time.

      I would not recommend ecobee door and window sensors. The company began requiring the a subscription service one year after I purchased. There was never a clue from Ecobee that they would start charging if you only wanted to use the open door detection to turn off the hvac. I never intended to buy this to use as security as I already have a fully monitored security system. Shame on you Ecobee!

      I don't think having door sensors should require a monthly/yearly fee. Ridiculous.

      We had a Ecobee 3 Lite for 4 years but switched to the Ecobee Premium so we could get the Security System. We loved our 3 Lite but the Premium is by far the best Security System for the money. Plus all the other features like air quality and the Pause feature that turns off the HVAC system when the doors or windows are open. I highly recommend the Ecobee Premium!

      Amazing thermostat, it is really the best on the market. The sensors though don't carry very far and there needs to be some sort of repeater solution if they are stuck with this proprietary RF tech. It seems a decent solution for an apartment or condo. I don't feel 100% safe arming the system with sensors dropping out daily.

      The sensors are good. I'm waiting for them to roll out full support on the thermostat for smart security. I would really like to see monitoring by a third party or API to extend monitoring to a third part. Paying for self-monitoring I will probably not do.

      I've had an EcoBee thermostat now for 4+ years, added room and door sensors and all works great. Initially early sensors were crap but new ones (bigger & better range) work much better. We also added door & window sensors. Now Ecobee & Generac merged and we monitor our generator from thermostat.
