This package had the key things I wanted: 400 nits touch screen (vs 250), 16 GB RAM (2 x 8), 500 GB SSD, 11th Gen i7 processor, number pad, convertible design with active pen support (MPP), and the price was right.
I knew going in that there was no pen included (not a problem, since I already had... a Surface pen), and that there was no Thunderbolt (a bummer, but not a dealbreaker for me).
After using the machine for a week, I am generally very happy with it, but a few things could be improved. Just unboxing the thing, I could see that the rubber pads on the bottom of the machine came pre-scuffed with black marks. The bottom metallic frame of the screen was also dented slightly in one spot. Not big deals -- just cosmetics.
I was pleasantly surprised that the machine came with 1 year of Office 365 (not just 1 month). It also came with PhotoShop Express, which was nice. There's also a Dropbox trial that was tempting though I haven't taken advantage of (yet?). There's other pre-installed software that might bother some (McAfee, various games, etc.), but I'm not bothered by it.
The 400 nits screen is pretty good in terms of colors and contrast, and it's great on a bright day, but at its dimmest, it's still fairly bright. So it['s not comfortable to use without at least some ambient room lighting. There is a little bit of backlight bleed all around the edges, but most of the time, I don't notice it. The viewing angles are fine, and touch works flawlessly. The pen works fine, though it doesn't seem super precise / sensitive. So this might not be the greatest machine for doing a lot of pen drawing.
The sound from the speakers is fine, if not good, for a laptop. The microphones are fine for a laptop, but I'll still use a separate microphone for conference calls (just because I happen to have one). The camera is pretty good in good lighting, but struggles in low light (which is expected). I think it's just a little wide, too, by which I mean that if you sit close enough to it that you take up more than 25% of the frame, your face looks a bit distorted.
The keyboard and trackpad seem solid and work just fine. When buying the computer, I didn't realize that the fingerprint reader takes the place of the right Ctrl key. So far I haven't missed it, but it's a little bit of an oddity there. I knew going in that the power button was in the keyboard as opposed to being its own button, and I didn't think I would mind, but it does have minor consequences for my use. Specifically, I like to use the laptop in tent mode, and when you open the screen beyond 180 degrees, the keyboard stops responding, which means that the power button also stops working. So if the machine goes to sleep in tent mode, I have to take the machine out of tent mode so that I can activate the power button. I haven't tried the fingerprint reader, but I assume there might be a similar problem there.
Another unexpected thing that I noticed was that the USB port on the right still supplies power to an attached USB hub even when I power down the machine. That's not a huge deal if I'm connected to a power outlet, but it does drain battery power if I don't disconnect the stuff attached to the machine. I haven't checked the USB ports on the left side of the machine.
The machine has handled my workload pretty easily. So far, the toughest workload I've thrown at it other than just the initial updates, is some light 4K video editing with a few basic transitions. The machine generally stays quiet and hasn't gotten beyond what I would describe as warm. When the fan does start spinning, however, I definitely do notice it, and others on the other side of a quiet room would definitely notice it. So far, though, I haven't noticed the fan turn on for more than a few seconds at a time.
The machine fits in all my existing bags, and it doesn't feel very heavy on my back / shoulder. I've been mostly plugged in lately, but the machine definitely does at least 4 or 5 hours of work on battery, and it probably would be fine for many more hours of light web browsing, though I haven't actually proven that out yet.
So all in all, it's a pretty good package from what I can tell so far, but there definitely are some things that if changed could make it near perfect.

Not the best but meets my needs
This is a nice computer. It has a great screen with 360/tablet capabilities and the battery stays charged for hours. As a prior HP Spectre Folio user I personally don't care for: the brushed silver finish or the size. The mouse pad has a gritty (un-smooth) feeling and it's also unevenly placed/lopsi...ded on the laptop. FYI, This laptop has fingerprint rather than facial recognition.

Love my HP ENVY 360

My laptop of more than five years, has been finally showing signs of wear and tear. Thanks to my husband and bother in law's help, they were able to navigate me to HP. We purchased an ENVY desktop with beats audio years ago. We as a family enjoy it. It is great for business, family use, and gaming. I chose the ENVY 360, since I will be primarily using this for business. It is sleek, lightweight, decent battery life, and bluetooth options. The display offers great visibility for reading and review during meetings when having multiple apps open. It is compact to travel and store. Will definitely purchase this again in the future when the time comes again.

I been having this envy for almost 1 year and si far it was working great. All the sudden it completely died. I couldn't turn it on whatsoever and tried everything. It's kind of a waste of money if you ask me. My 2010 MacBook pro is still running strong no issues. I'm switching back to Mac.

After about a year, the hinge breaks randomly while opening the laptop, causing the touchscreen to crack. Of course, this is after the warranty expired. Not sure a repair is worth it. Would recommend a different brand for longevity and build quality.

I ALWAYS buy HP laptops, because they are the best. I strayed away and bought another one last time, just to try something new. It didn't take long to realize I had made a terrible (and expensive) mistake. It crapped out after a few months. I saved up and bought this HP Envy and I couldn't be happier with it. Easy to use, attractive, I've never needed to use the customer service, but I'm sure it is as good as the laptop. They last a loooong time. When it is time again, I will definitely get another HP. Without a doubt.
