PROS: Good price for a powerful home unit; MUCH QUIETER compared to a traditional window a/c; it has a nice clean profile and appearance; lots of features if you're into learning what they are and how they work; smart phone app - two thumbs up (I have an iPhone); love the swinging louver feature. So far so good in terms of keeping my smaller home cool and comfortable - fingers crossed I can say the same come the July/August summer heat here on the Jersey shore. CONS: Installation IS NOT "QUICK & EASY," by any stretch of the imagination...not for "the common man," anyway. The video guide definitely helps, and I'm handy, smart, and I work slowly to avoid careless mistakes. Working alone, it took me NEARLY FOUR HOURS over two evenings after work to get the unit assembled, installed and secured. As mentioned in other reviews, this unit produces a DULL VIBRATION through the wall that reverberates throughout my space - I find it loudest on the lowest speed setting but it's audible whenever the compressor is operating. Also, the ANTI-TIP BRACKETS - not mentioned in the instructions until after the unit is in place, making access to them VERY AWKWARD AND DIFFICULT. You should loosen and remove the very tight screws BEFORE placing the unit so that when it's time to extend the arms into your window track, you can easily tighten the screws and secure both arms in place. FOOTNOTES: Not all windows and windowsills fall into one of two categories. If you have an older home with older windows (which I do), you should be prepared for a less than perfect fit and to be creative with how you fill or cover any spaces around the unit once it is in place. I happened to have some foam weather stripping lying around which I've used to block the gaps around the edges. Yes to recommending this unit but if you're not handy, you might consider hiring someone who is to help with the installation. Hope my review helps!

I got this with hesitation and reservations with what they claim to be quiet and and how well they work. Installation was not as difficult as it seems just pay attention. This unit is way more quiet than i had thought initially. It also cools my rancher with no problem. I plan on buying more of these for other rooms. ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PRODUCT

This has to be the quietest air unit I have ever owned. I must admit when it was delivered, and I opened the box and saw all of the parts and the intricate assembly required. I thought to myself, if I had known this, I never would have ordered it. I went on YouTube for the installation video and it was extremely articulate and easy to understand. I think I spent about an hour assembling all of the sub assembly work to install this. If you one of those folks that likes to take it out in the winter, you may want to rethink your purchase. Beyond that, I think it's a great unit and I really like the ability to turn it on remotely via a Wi-Fi connection.

I bought this to replace an older window unit. Our home is very old(no central air). We usually run 2 units downstairs and 2 units upstairs. Once we tried the unit on the first floor, I went and got another for upstairs. We were very comfortable with only 2 units but I did buy a third which we will install next year. It is amazing how quiet it is. We love it.

The left drain hole design is flawed, causes mold build up

The left and right drain hole located under the evaporator are not designed the same. The left drain hole is not leveled with the bottom of the evaporator pan, which causes water to build up and never get fully drained. The right drain hole does not have this issue. I followed the instructions so there is always a chance you get this issue. I will have to thoroughly clean my unit since its no longer sanitary, and smells horrid, what a hassle. *Video description: I slid a zip tie into the left drain hole and as you can see it is not touching the bottom of the pan. When I fully pulled the ziptie out, it made a snapping noise as it made contact with the bottom of the evaporator pan*

      Serious MOLD Issue

My unit developed a serious mold issue internally. Problem is that most AC install/repair services that I've reached out to won't clean these units as a service so I'm most likely going to have to replace the unit entirely since it's such a pain to take apart yourself (and that's not recommended).

t is very quiet; although, there is a very low frequency vibration that resonates through the mounts into the wall when it first starts up. It's not too bad in that regard. I have Marvin Infinity replacement windows which have a very large handle which needs to be left in place and a lip which is too fragile to handle the weight of an AC unit. I solved the lip issue with a 3/4" wooden shim (aka a 1x2) — see the dark brown spacer in the inside photo. The handle on the window makes it tricky to install the unit to clear the handle. There wasn't really enough forward/backward adjustment ff the unit is pitched back at much of an angle (pitching the AC also makes the slot smaller). I had to settle for the unit being almost level (I'm hoping it will settle back a little bit). The adjustments for the support legs would either keep it almost upright or a full bubble back — I really needed an interim setting. Note that this means I had to take the unit out and put it back in three times to find the optimum setting. Having the shim made installation easier: I drilled clearance holes for the #8 sheet metal screws in the wood ahead of time and used the shim as a template to drill smaller holes in the window sill. I used 1.5" #8 stainless sheet metal screws to attach the bracket to the still. Speaking of drilling holes for sheet metal screws, 1/8" is a little too big if you want the screw threads to engage in a pine window sill and not pull out. The other installation issue I had was that I have vinyl siding and I was afraid the support legs would ruin it. You can pull the rubber off and there are two holes you can use to screw the feet to a piece of wood (see pictures). I glued a sheet of vinyl to the other side of the wood to protect my siding. I probably had about 8 hours in this installation. 4 to get out my tools, cut the wood and paint it and 4 hours to actually do the installation. It takes me 1-2 hours to install a regular air conditioner.

We have 1500 sq ft hot water heat (so no ducts for central AC) in a story-and-a-half-old home. Wet have used window AC's since 1988. 10 to 12,000 BTU's units installed in the upstairs window. On 80+ days with 80% humidity, with the blowers on full blast on the lowest setting, we maybe could get some cool air on the main floor, but it sounded like standing next to a jet airliner at takeoff. Then I read that this U shape Midea 12,000 BTU was quiet. I bought it. It works on 80+ degree days with 80% humidity on the automatic setting with a whisper-quiet fan, and it cools the whole house on a 67-degree cooling setting. AND, our electric bill is half what the others monsters consumed. If it only lasted one season, it would be worth the $. Don't make the mistake of getting another window hanger, Step up to the U Man.
